Using a qualitative, library-based research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, the study synthesizes key theories and prior research on spirituality, social competence, and multicultural education. The findings show that spiritual intelligence—characterized by self-reflection, transcendental awareness, and universal values such as compassion and justice—provides an essential moral foundation. However, these values require the support of social intelligence—empathy, communication skills, and cultural sensitivity—to be effectively translated into inclusive social interactions. The integration of these two forms of intelligence forms a synergistic framework that strengthens tolerant character formation and supports peaceful coexistence across diverse identities. The study concludes that fostering tolerance requires not only legal and structural measures but also cultural and educational strategies that integrate spiritual reflection with social skills training. Practically, the findings suggest that character education, interfaith learning spaces, and multicultural training programs can serve as effective platforms to nurture inclusive citizenship in plural societies.
2025-09-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Fatimah Depi Susanty Harahap, Amril M, Eva Dewihttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/400Promoting Social Harmony Through Neo-Sufism-Based Religious Inclusivity2025-07-15T07:57:18+00:00Muhamad Basyrul Muvid Muvidmuvid@dinamika.ac.idAlaika M Bagus Kurnia PSalaika.ps@stikessurabaya.ac.idMuhammad Badat Alauddinalao.bs2645@iiu.edu.pk
Diversity is proof of God's power that must be accepted by all of creation. However, diversity becomes the embryo of division because of differences in vision, mission, and even beliefs, due to the absence of a common thread connecting one to another. Added to this is a textual understanding of religion that gives rise to religious fanaticism and exclusivism. This paper aims to find solutions to realize the harmonization of diversity in society through religious inclusiveness based on neo-Sufism. The research method used is a literature study with data collection techniques based on documents (articles, books, religious texts, electronic media) that support this theme, and data analysis techniques using induction and interpretation. The results show that with the neo-Sufism approach, a person's religious inclusion does not only stop at the mind (knowledge) but also reaches the heart (feelings), so that tolerance, empathy, compassion, mutual assistance, and social solidarity arise sincerely, selflessly, and without any interests. This inclusive attitude will not change when situations and conditions change. This means that neo-Sufism-based religious inclusiveness educates people to respect others (even if they are different) with sincere attention and compassion after going through Sufi spiritual processes and stages. This model can be practiced in real life when living side by side in diversity, in interfaith dialogue, working in heterogeneous places (religion, ethnicity, etc.), and also for government officials who are indeed servants of the people universally. This can be a recommendation to policymakers and community leaders to educate the public to be more moderate (inclusive) in their religious practices by making Sufi values a model in the midst of a diverse society
2025-09-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muhamad Basyrul Muvid Muvid, Alaika M Bagus Kurnia PS, Muhammad Badat Alauddinhttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/314Faith, Life, and Multiculturalism in the Thought of Al-Qaradawi: A Study of Al-Īmān wa al-Ḥayāh2025-09-01T06:22:07+00:00Amir Sahidinamirsahidin42003@mhs.unida.gontor.ac.idMohammad Kholid Muslihkholidmuslih@unida.gontor.ac.idZahratur Rofiqah Binte Mochamad Sandisizahratur@pergas.org.sg
The issue of faith is the most vital and decisive matter for human beings and must be studied earnestly especially in this modern age of rapid transformation that has brought change to every aspect of human life. In a globalized era marked by a materialistic worldview, faith has weakened and is increasingly absent from human life. Against this backdrop, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi has made significant efforts to link faith with human existence and to respond to the threats posed by materialism. Through a qualitative content analysis based on library research and the framework of contemporary Islamic theology (‘Ilm al-Kalām al-Jadīd), this study arrives at the following conclusions: First, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s efforts to integrate faith into daily life are evident in his articulation of the essence of faith and its impact on individuals and society. Second, his critique of materialism includes a clarification of the nature of science and an exploration of the relationship between faith and psychological well-being, reason, freedom, and human actions. Third, he emphasized that faith is a fundamental foundation of Islamic humanism
2025-09-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Amir Sahidin, Mohammad Kholid Muslih, Zahratur Rofiqoh Binte Mochamad Sandisihttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/429Integrating Islamic Values and Local Wisdom: Ruwah Desa as a Multicultural Spiritual Response to Disasters 2025-09-01T06:26:44+00:00Nur Laila Novitasarinurlailanovitasari@gmail.comAhmad Sholihin Sirojuddinahmadsalsa75@gmail.comJarir Kholil MuhammadJarirmalik77@gmail.com
This study aims to examine the Ruwah Desa tradition in Kedungpapar Village as a form of local wisdom that strengthens the community’s social, cultural, psychological, mystical, and religious life. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed thematically to explore the meaning and function of the tradition. Findings reveal that Ruwah Desa plays a crucial role in preserving cultural identity, reinforcing social solidarity, and fostering a sense of security and togetherness. Moreover, it embodies mystical dimensions believed to maintain balance between humans and unseen forces, as well as religious dimensions expressed in gratitude to God and respect for ancestors. Thus, Ruwah Desa in Kedungpapar is not merely an annual ritual but also a medium for cultural preservation, value transmission, and the strengthening of social harmony that remains relevant amid contemporary life dynamics
2025-09-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nur Laila Novitasari, Ahmad Sholihin Sirojuddin, Jarir Kholil Muhammadhttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/491Developing Multicultural Religious Competence in Teachers through Reflective Seminars in Nigeria2025-08-27T01:48:42+00:00Ozokoye C Giftozokoye.gift@unn.edu.ngMustafa Farjani farjani@zu.edu.ly
This study explores the impact of a reflective-based seminar in enhancing religious Multicultural competencies among pre-service teachers in Nigeria. Utilizing a qualitative, literature-based methodology, the research analyzes key educational frameworks and proposes a comprehensive curriculum that integrates spiritual, intellectual, social, and practical dimensions. The findings highlight the necessity for a PAI curriculum that balances cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, while promoting inclusive, contextual, and student-centered learning. The core of the proposed curriculum is grounded in Islamic multicultural values, emphasizing tolerance, respect for diversity, and the promotion of social harmony. Key implementation strategies include the formulation of transformative learning objectives, the adoption of active-reflective teaching methods, and the incorporation of character-based assessments. However, challenges such as limited resources, a lack of teacher preparedness, and insufficient parental involvement are identified as barriers to successful implementation. The study concludes that fostering collaboration among educational stakeholders and enhancing teacher competencies are critical steps toward realizing a holistic PAI curriculum that reflects the values of Islamic multiculturalism, compassion, and social transformation
2025-09-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Miranti Anggraini, Nadlir Nadlir, Enisa Madehttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/409Optimizing Religious Learning in Public Schools: Challenges and Solutions to Time Limitations2025-09-17T08:02:47+00:00Najwa Asqolaniwawaasqolani@gmail.comFihris Fihrisfihris@walisongo.ac.idMuhammad Juhan Raihanmjuhanraihan@gmail.com
Religious education in public schools plays an important role in shaping the spiritual, ethical, and moral character of students, but its implementation faces a number of complex obstacles. This study aims to identify various challenges in religious education in public schools, particularly time constraints, and to offer relevant solutions to optimize its implementation. The research method used is a literature study by reviewing literature from national journals, proceedings, and scientific books over the last ten years to obtain a comprehensive picture of this issue. The results of the analysis show that time constraints are a major factor affecting the depth of students' understanding of religious values, as limited class hours often make the learning process formal and fail to touch on affective and applicative aspects. Other significant challenges include low student interest and motivation to learn, limited digital learning facilities that can support creativity, and limited teacher competence in developing innovative contextual methods. In addition, the multicultural factor in the form of diversity in students' cultural and religious backgrounds requires a high level of sensitivity so that religious education remains inclusive and harmonious. The conclusion findings of this study demonstrate that enhancing the quality of religious education necessitates a multifaceted approach that extends beyond mere augmentation of instructional hours. Achieving this objective necessitates a multifaceted approach, encompassing comprehensive support from various stakeholders, including teachers, schools, families, and policymakers
2025-09-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Najwa Asqolani, Fihris Fihris, Muhammad Juhan Raihanhttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/439Religious Moderation in the Practice of Interfaith Marriage: A Case Study of Silvia Tan and Ko Muadz2025-07-15T08:02:16+00:00Husna Fathiyahhusnafathiyaa@gmail.comBustomi Arisandiabindri9@gmail.comMudarris Mudarrisdarrisnice@gmail.com
This study explores religious moderation in the context of interfaith marriage in Indonesia through the case of Shilvia Tan (Muslim) and Ko Muadz (Confucian), who have lived harmoniously for 17 years without religious conversion. The purpose is to analyze how religious moderation is practiced in interfaith households and how this case reflects tensions between state law, religious doctrine, and individual rights. The originality of this research lies in its interdisciplinary perspective that combines legal, religious, and sociological analysis with the lived experience of an interfaith couple, filling a gap in previous studies that largely focused on normative or legal aspects.Using a qualitative approach, the study employs literature review and media analysis of academic works, legal documents, news reports, and social media discussions from 2007 to 2024. Data were thematically analyzed to identify issues such as legal challenges, public perceptions, and representations of religious moderation.Findings show that interfaith marriage reveals structural obstacles in legal recognition and highlights the gap between the state’s discourse of moderation and the lived realities of citizens. The case demonstrates that tolerance and family harmony can be achieved without conversion, but more inclusive legal and social policies are needed to address the needs of Indonesia’s plural society
2025-09-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Husna Fathiyah, Bustomi Arisandi, Mudarris Mudarrishttp://jurnal.staidhi.com/index.php/alinsyiroh/article/view/442Hijab as the Legal Identity and Spirituality of Muslim Women in Modern Social Dynamics2025-09-22T00:58:10+00:00Amri Effendiamri@uinmybatusangkar.ac.idAsa Syarosyasasyarosyyy@gmail.comMuhammad Danilmdanil@stain-madina.ac.id
This study explores the meaning, function, and social perception of hijab use in the lives of Indonesian Muslim women from the perspective of Islamic law, spirituality, and multicultural dimensions. The purpose of the research is to examine the normative basis of the obligation to wear the hijab in the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as to understand the subjective experiences of Muslim women of various ethnicities in Indonesia. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques with 20 Muslim women from Javanese, Sundanese, Madura, Batak, and Minangkabau ethnic backgrounds, followed by surveys as well as literature and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the hijab is not only understood as a sharia obligation, but also a symbol of spiritual identity, a means of self-protection, and a medium of identity negotiation in a pluralistic society. Muslim women interviewed acknowledged the challenges of social stigma, discrimination, and negative stereotypes, but they also affirmed the hijab as a source of spiritual strength and a symbol of ethno-religious pride. The practical implications of this study recommend the development of multicultural education programs in schools, teacher training on religious sensitivity, and media guidelines to portray the diversity of hijab practices in an equitable and inclusive manner
2025-10-05T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Danil, Amri Effendi, Asa Syarosy
